Q: How do I request a budget for my project?

A: You may overnight drawings directly to our administrative offices, at which point a Project Manager will be assigned to your project. The Project Manager will review your drawings and contact you directly to discuss details. The Project Manager will give you a timeline on when you can expect to receive your proposal and completed project. If you need to expedite your project, you can call the office directly and ask to speak to the Project Manager.

Q: The architectural drawings are not complete. Can I get a rough budget and prices for materials, based on schematic details?

A: Yes. You may fax schematic details and we can provide a range of options for materials, connections and bracket detail. Our staff can help you calculate board feet and make suggestions for the appropriate materials.

Q: Our firm has not worked with heavy timber in the past. Can you provide consultation services and make engineering recommendations?

A: Gordon D. Plume is available for project meetings at your site to present design details, samples and referrals in all areas of heavy timber design and construction. We have contacts with the top designers, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers in the country. Our goal is to make your project successful.

Q: What do you charge for a consultation?

A: We charge a $90/hour consultation fee. The fee can be billed directly to your firm, or it can be included as part of your purchase order once your project is awarded to our company. Depending on the size of a project or the scope of the job, this fee may be waived once we receive a purchase order on your project.

Q: How soon will my project be shipped?

A: Depending on the size of your project, we require six to eight weeks from the date of a signed purchase order and approved drawings. We request a 40% deposit on all orders that must be received prior to initializing the job. If there are any changes to the order, we request a signed change order and a new ship date will be issued depending on the extent of the changes. We will not proceed without approved shop drawings.

Q: Can you providing trucking to my job site?

A: Yes. We work with several professional trucking agencies that are experienced with delivering to high-end residences and commercial job sites. They are experienced with accessing difficult job site terrains and are fully insured should there by any damages en route. We will make all arrangements and schedule deliveries, per your request. We will make recommendations on equipment needed at your site to unload and handle the materials. We charge a packaging fee and a 25% expedition fee above the cost of the trucking. You will be billed based on time and materials for all trucking costs.

Q: If I do not like the materials I have ordered, can I return them?

A: Our projects are typically custom and cannot be returned after fabrication. Changes can be made up to the time that the custom material is ordered from the mill. After that, we will work with the customer and our vendors on a change order basis. We encourage individuals to visit our shop while projects are being manufactured to review their project. However, we strive to satisfy all of our customers and will work very closely with the architects, engineers, contractors and owners to provide the specified product. We will replace any defective product and we warranty our product for one year after installation.
